It has been a little while since my last blog entry. I’ve been a little busy with basketball season as well as the holiday season. I hope everyone out there had a Merry Christmas and I wish you a Happy New Year. I also want to thank all those people who have been reading my blog and posting comments. I do read them and appreciate the support. I’ve had fun writing them (yes, I do write every article myself) and I’ll try to keep it entertaining.
I never pre-determine what I will write about. Usually, I will unfold my laptop on the latest road trip and just write about something that has been on my mind. Tonight, my mind landed on the topic of writing New Year’s Resolutions. Though I am a goal-oriented person, I usually don’t write a resolution for every new year. My goals on the basketball court have been mapped out before the season starts, and my life goals are written in my mind. Whether you believe in doing them or not, I think setting goals is an important step to improving one’s life. I’m not pretending to be Dr. Phil, but I do have first-hand experience on what positive goal setting can do to a person. I believe I wouldn’t be in the NBA had I not set goals for myself as a young boy. I believe I wouldn’t be in the NBA had I not sets goals for myself as a young man and I believe I won’t be able to achieve the things I want to as an older man if I don’t continue to do so.
If you have already written some New Year’s Resolutions…good for you. If you haven’t or think it’s a stupid thing to do, then I encourage you to reconsider. Write some goals down on a piece of paper. They can be any type of goal: career or personal. Give each goal some real thought and write down some details on how you can achieve it. Be specific. A goal without anything behind it is just a big dream. The key is to not set the bar too high or too low. In my opinion, the best types of goals are those that are just out of reach for you right now, but not so easy that you won’t have to change anything to eventually achieve it.
I’m an optimistic person and I believe that almost anything is possible. I believe it’s never too late to change a bad habit and that there is always something in our lives that we can improve on. I can be a better player…a better husband and father…and a better friend. My goals for 2008 will reflect that.
Whatever goals you set for yourself, I want to wish you the strength and courage to follow through with them. I think this new year is going to be the best year of our lives.

My goal for the year is simple. I’m going to be watching when you have your breakout game. Nice game tonight, by the way. More time(17 minutes tonight) and your shots
will begin to fall. Also your consistantly good defense, lack of turnovers, passing and ball handling helped keep the Grizzles in tonights game. Next step - Sunday @ Miami.
Mr G.
Nice game @Boston. Navarro 20 points in 17 minutes. He deserves more minutes and being in the starting 5.
I like your optimism, and I hope to improve and become a better me, myself. Hang tough!
Navarro showed yesterday at boston’s game he is the most talented overall player of the team, and he is the most decisive at crucial time. He scored 13 points in 4th quarter and could have scored more if they pass him the ball a bit more. I hope to see him on the starting five on sunday, because he deserves it.
hey casey! happy new year! freak city still miss you! i hope we will see you back in freak city!
You want to know what my resolution is?
I want to see you back in Bamberg and especially in Blumenhof coummunity!
Best wishes for you, your wife, daughter and Harley!
Hi Casey!!!
I hope you feel good! Please come back to Bamberg!!! You are the greatest player I´ve ever seen!!!
We miss you!!!
Your blogs are always entertaining and insightful, Casey, I enjoy reading them. Good luck with the rest of the season.
Hi Casey,
we all in Bamberg enjoy your blogs. Your words and comments are really interested and show us that you are not only a great sportsman but a kind of man with wisely experience of life.
We all in freak city wish you and your family all the best for the new year.
My Resolution is to see you back in Bamberg ...the hope will never die.
My resolution is to see Hakim Warrick traded to a team that knows how to use him. Ivaroni has done nothing for this kid’s progression as a player who was coming into his own last year.
I only wanna say: Rudy Gay is lamentable. He could be a great player but he plays for himself, any idea about basketball. This is a team game. Come back to the university to learn whatever he can (i do not think he is smart enough, but at least try, please).
Casey been following since your freshman year, I used to live off Foothill in Glendora. I coach freshman B Ball at West Valley, our Varsity is looking good and hopefully will represent at the Pond this year. You used to dominate at the High School level has your shot confidence diminished in the NBA? I could see you as a Steve Kerr type starter.
Casey,
Hey whats going on? Great season so far. I went to school with Brian Cardinal. I never see the guy in uniform. Is Brian hurt at this time? Just wanted to see! Well have a great second half coming up!
Thanks Andrew.
