I never really thought that I’d be saying that I was looking forward to being a “rookie” again, but here I am, just as excited as I ever thought I could be dancing my first year with the Grizzlies Dance Team! I stopped dancing for a couple of years and knew that I missed it, but it wasn’t until I went to one of the workshops that Tamara was holding that I knew I had to dance again. I looked at myself in the studio mirror and said, “Wow, you look like you’re about to drown in your own sweat!” (I really did) “…but it sure feels good to be in here working like this again!”
Before I knew it, I was learning the tryout routine and looking around at all the girls there with me wondering who would end up making it… or if I would make it… It was a little bit intimidating at first with all the girls that seemed to have never missed a beat! I knew that if I wanted it to be a good experience that I had to keep in mind that I was having FUN, regardless of what everyone else was doing!
When tryouts were over, I couldn’t believe how I went from thinking that I would be relieved to realizing what all I needed to do for Finals!! When I got to Bluesville at Horseshoe Casino, it was good to see the familiar faces from tryouts… some from past dance experience as well, which is amazing in and of itself. It was obvious almost immediately that we were all ready to just know!
Well, we know now, and like I said before, I never thought I would be looking forward to being the “rookie,” but I cannot wait to get onto that floor! I’ve never danced for a professional team before, so I’m absolutely stoked to have the opportunity to experience something new! I’m ready for the challenge and to get to know the other girls on the team. I am truly blessed.
We ran a poll on Grizzlies.com during the tryout period for fans to chose a new name for the Dance Team. “Grizz Girls” was the winner, so…
